http://www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/events/all_star/y2006/ballot_reg.jsp
I checked this out this morning, and found it was incredibly simple to use, far moreso than I expected.
Just go to the link, register a few pieces of information (including email, but don't worry; you can choose to not have things sent to you), and cast a ballot. At the end of the process, you can hit a button to vote again. When you vote again, everything you chose last time is already populated for you!
Easy stuff. Let's get a Tigers' starter in the starting lineup of the All-Star game!

well one thing is for sure: Jason Varitek has no business being anywhere near Pittsburgh this July.
BTW, wouldnt it be awesome if Inge got in the HR derby?

I would want to see Thames in the HR derby. He could put some monster shots out there......

Maurer will be selected as a reserve for sure, I'd rather vote in Pudge at the expense of the more undeserving (imo) Varitek, as it seems unlikely Maurer can win the fan voting.

That's how I feel as well. Mauer is a shoo-in, but I don't want to see Varitek and his lofty .256 average anywhere near a starting spot in the All-Star Game. Plus, it would be a disgrace if the best team in baseball (record-wise) didn't have one starter. Although, JV or the Gambler could make a case for starting pitcher...:ponder:

Yeah. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if half the White Sox staff ends up in Pittsburgh which wouldn't really bug me. Give the pitchers some rest. Especially JV...

That's how I vote too. I said that last year and was surprised at how many people disagreed with me. I don't really care that much about the allstar game anway. It's just an exhibition game. The fun part for me is figuring out who should be there.

I won't vote for Pudge based on his shenanigans last year. I don't give a crap that he was going through a divorce--that stuff happens to a lot of people and doesn't give them license to be a jerk.

I'd rather give them a little vacation, which they really need. Would you leave Verlander or any of our pitchers in the hand of Ozzie Guillen? The thought scares me.

This from a poster by the name of "Jack Hart" on WorldCrossings:
It's not about Pudge. It's about the Tigers. One of them is only 50,000 votes away from starting, in a year when the Tigers are the best team in baseball nearing the All-Star break. Tiger fans should support him. I agree that the players and managers should pick the entire team, but that's not the way it works right now.
My thoughts exactly. And I hardly think that Guillen is going to sabotage, or even have the opportunity to sabotage, Verlander or another of our pitchers.

I, for one, do not care about the all-star game whatsoever. I'll watch the Derby and I'll follow the futures game, but the ASG is just a chance to see guys you get to see play every day, but only for 2 innings.
The less Tigers on the roster, the better, IMO. 23 of our 25 are deserving at this point in the season since we already have 54 wins. The only 2 who dont are Todd Jones and 'Mon Santiago.

Agreed on the first point. I love the futures game. I also agree on the less Tigers the better.... Not sure that 23 of the 25 are deserving but thats alright.

Well you know what that is. Whether deserving or not I can't remember the last time detroit had more than one reprresentative. I also cant remember the last time outside of Pudge last year actually got to play in an allstar game. Of course having the allstar game in detroit last year allowed them to showcase pudge.

Guillen was named to the team in 2004. He didn't play, but was there.

Thats great and all....but if you vote for Mauer you will have Varitek (.250 7 HR ...pourous defense) starting and Mauer backing up.
If you vote for Pudge...you could have Pudge starting (.301 7HR...thrown out 50% of runners) and Mauer backing up and Varitek staying home.

This is how I voted...and I think I was fair......
C Joe Mauer, Min (sorry, he's hitting .392)
1B Ortiz, Bos
2b Cano, NY
SS Young, Tex
3b Blalock, Tex
OF Dye, CWS
OF Wells, Tor
OF Granderson, Det (because I've seen what he has done)
If I could vote for 3 pitchers, 2 of them would be Verlander and Robertson.
And statements like "I voted 25 times for an All-Tiger team" are the reason that fans shouldn't pick the All-Stars.

I did my part for Pudge. I agree 100% that Joe Mauer deserves to start. But I'll also echo the sentiments that Mauer will be chosen as a reserve and Pudge is a much better candidate to start than Jason Varitek. Given that polls close today, you're choosing between Pudge and Varitek - Who do you want to start.
Remember this could give up home field advantage for the World Series!!!

I see your point but all 9 TIgers will never win the vote because of homers voting. You still need other teams fans to vote you in and thats why so many Yankees get in because Jeter and ARod are good. New York has an unfair advantage with 8 million people living in the city. Boston fans are the problem voting for Varitek but when you think more about it Varitek has been a great player but rarely gets to start an all-star if ever cuz Pudge is in the AL. It is your vote so you can use it anyway you wish. I used to vote for all Tigers but the last 2 years I vote for about 4 or 5 TIgers I deem worthy 25 times...I think I voted for Inge once at 3rd base and 24 times for ARod.

Mauer deserves to be the starter at C. I don't vote for the home team I vote for the best players.
I used to do this...but I realized after years of seeing players with non-deserving years winning the award...that the reason the fans get to vote and they don't just take the guys with the best stats...is because it's an All-STAR game. The definition of star to me means, players who play good AND you like. I don't particularly like Joe Mauer and I can't see voting for a player on a team I dislike, unless I REALLY like that player.
I voted 25 times for Pudge yesterday. In addition I voted for:
1B - David Ortiz
2B - Brian Roberts
SS - Carlos Guillen
3B - Brandon Inge
OF - Vladdy Guerrero/Mags (split votes)
OF - Vernon Wells
OF - Curtis Granderson
1B - Albert Puhols/Nomar (split votes)
2B - Chase Utley
SS - Jack Wilson
3B - Scott Rolen
C - Brian McCann
OF - Jason Bay
OF - Carlos Beltran
OF - Bobby Abreu
I voted for these guys cause I'd really like to see them in the game...or at least to get recognition in points for the good players I think they are...regardless of how they are doing this year.

I don't think Mauer is going to win it. Too little too late.
I think Pudge has a shot to overtake Varitek, but you know the Red Sox Nation will see to it if here is there. I hope Pudge beats him because I don't think Varitek is deserving of an All-Star status.
I fear Mauer may get screwed because Ozzie Guillen hates the Twins particularly Ron Gardenhire so it would not suprise me if Ozzie does not take Mauer. I am expecting that to happen. I know most Twins fans are paranoid about Mauer being screwed and you can't blame em. Twins have been doing a promo about "Voting for Joe" in an attemp to get him to win it.

I also have heard you can simple clear cookies. If thats the case. MLB needs a new way for fans to vote.
Yep, you can clear cookies and vote as many times. I just am using a bunh of fake names and a bunch of emails i know exist but are not mine.
