Out fishing last night, missed the game, but I see Bonderman only had one strikeout. His other stats looked OK. Did he appear to be healthy, I know he had elbow issues last year. Throwing lots of sliders does that do you ....
He's had some soreness this year as well. Only 1 strikeout doesn't indicate much though. His velocity hasn't dropped at all.

From what I've read/heard, Bonderman's velocity was down in Saturday's start but back up to mid 90s yesterday.

bonderman only has 18k's career versus oakland compared to 20bb's. It's just a team he's never been able to strike out for whatever reason.

Perhaps partly because Oakland's GM prefers high-OBP guys? I'm thinking Oakland would strike out less against most pitchers, although I haven't checked the stats yet.
Even after the 1 strikeout performance, he's only 2 behind the league leader in that category.

Huh, I never knew only getting one strikeout in a game was the official indication of if a player is injured or not. That's news to me...

Oakland hit him hard the 1st couple innings. I was a little worried that his arm was bothering him and he is keeping quiet again this year.
He is definately hurting now after Johnson lined the ball off his hip in the 7th inning last night.

According to Tom Gage, it hit his butt. He's fine.

When and were did we see this? Missed it completely. Details?
Just a concerned fan.

Overall, I was happy with how he looked. When I saw him last saturday his velocity was down in the lower 90's and I was worried. The Fox Sports gun had him in the mid 90's most of the time yesterday, topping out at 96. He had a nice two seamer and his slider working fairly well. He only gave up one hit after the first inning so he really did a nice job when you look at the whole seven innings.

I'll agree that as long as his velocity is where it should be, there's no worries... yet.

didn't see the game, but based on some comments in the game thread it sounded like the ump was squeezing the strike zone a little for all of the pitchers yesterday. didn't seem like any of them were having much luck painting the corners (especially Duscherer).

I suppose if there was a trend, I'd be more concerned, but as Yoda pointed he was doing well well in the K category before last night's start ....

I'm no doctor but it seems to me that we'd start to see a consistent drop in velocity and/or control if he were actually hurt. He is not pitching at his best right now, but I'm not sure it's a health issue.

The game the other day concerned me more than this one. The A's are a good team at not getting themselves out with strikeouts....
If Bonderman's velocity was back in this game I am happier.... last game his velocity was down.... which is a bad sign... Although Rod mentioned in the A's pregame that he threw a ton of 2 seamers, which would be a lower velocity pitch.
This game he was around the mid 90's.

He was mid-90s in the game today against Oakland. For whatever reason, he just plain didn't have it his last time out vs. Cleveland.

Thank you. Now I wish I didn't ask. :depress:
Let's hope this isn't a problem.

For you trivia buffs, that was only the 3rd time in his career that Bondy struck out less than 2 batters when going at least 6 IP. Happened last July 31st, and once in 2003 ......
