I've missed many of the games so far because I work at night, but I noticed recently that Andres Torres was roaming centerfield in Comerica Park(pleasant surprise) with Macias playing 2nd base. Originally I thought this had something to do with Pujols becoming manager.
Did Easley get injured or benched or what else caused this move?

Easley is hurt. So is Damion Jackson. So that's why the moves were made

Easley has a strained back muscle(day to day), and Damian Jackson went down with a torn off finger nail(2-3 weeks) together they necessitated the call-up of Torres and Jose Macias moved into 2nd base.
Oscar Salazer was brought up to back-up Macias and Nate Cornejo was sent down to get some work in.
Now that Garner is gone, I believe that Wendell Magee will be the odd man out, as long as Torres earns his keep. Torres will be the starting CF with Macias and Cruz playing the back-ups. Easley and Jackson will return to their roles and Salazar will return to the minors with Cornejo reclaiming his 5th starter role.
So basically, it will be the opening day roster save for Torres taking Magees place on the roster, and taking Macias's starting job in CF. Macias will set up shop in Magee's former office as back-up outfielder.

So our bench goes from crap to crap, and our lineup goes from crap to younger crap. And we would have a total of 2 utility infielders on the bench, thus allowing Pujols to pinch hit whenver he wants. To bad we won't have anyone to actually do the pinch hitting.
