Ronald Blum of the AP isn't quite as sure as Gene Guidi that a deal is imminent. Oh, by the way, S.O.B. is Scott Orson Boras. I don't know if Orson is really his middle name but it sounds good. Here's the link to Blum's article.

Every other article makes it sound a little closer. Interesting...

Boras is doing his job. Hold your cards close to the vest, and keep the feelers out until the last possible second. Something else could still pop up.

@ least Blum was just talking about the possibility & wasn't lambasting Pudge for even thinking about it.
Yesterday on ESPN's Around the Horn & PTI, everybody involved said if Pudge really wanted to win he wouldn't come to Detroit. I'm so sick of that.

I know I don't keep tabs as closely on the other 29 teams as I do the Tigers. Looking from the outside in on a 43-win team, they're justified in saying that. We need to show them otherwise.

At one time they also said that about the Braves, Cubbies and Mariners. Now look at those teams! Winning will change the concept of the Tigers. Some of those reporters forget that we were the winningest team of the 80's. Granted that was a decade and half ago, but not many teams can claim that!

I think everyone has to remember Boras is as shrewd as they come. He may be in Detroit just in an attempt to get some of the other players to up their offers. (Rumors are that Baltimore is getting back in the mix). I think this team wants Pudge badly but I think they are going to have to outbid the other teams for him. I am excited but cautiously optimistic.

I just read where Baltimore is trying to get back in it also and that a deal with the Tigers is not "imminent" but progressing well.

Baltimore makes no sense. They already have Lopez to play C/DH and Palmeiro to play 1B/DH.
I agree that Boras could be using the Tigers, but it seems like Detroit is the only team serious about Pudge. He might have to sign in Detroit.

It was from I believe ESPN and also 1130 the fan reported that it was not a done deal either. That doesn't mean it won't happen, just that Boras is being his same old self by playing people.
