I think the Tigers have only made awesome moves over the last 12 months and think they are within a year of seriously contending for something.
Heck, they may contend this year after they win their next 10 games.
Any thoughts?:)

Thoughts?

Maybe you should sit quietly on that chair while your wife calls the nice men in white coats.
You remember them, don't you?
Suuuurrrreeee you do........ that was a restful place, now wasn't it?
Suuuurrrrreee it was..

Those are really cool places Sue!
Whenever they try to get me out of those "non emergency" hospitals I just tell a nurse or a doctor if I can have a drink and they let me stay a few more weeks. It's a pretty cool gig really!:)

you, my friend, may be absolutely right --
let's all get on our knees and pray together.

I'd give Dave Dombrowski total power over baseball operations. Just give him a bottom line figure for the team (hopefully around $60M or better) and let him figure out how to spend it. He'll build a team.

BiD,
I hope you are right! I'd love to see some good baseball sometime relatively soon.

The people who desperately need an attitude change are the people who wear the old English D and, and who now are making half half hearted and half assed attempts to play baseball. They are still 0-8, no amount of pep talk will change that.

BR, it's not their attitude thats the problem. It's their talent.

I still say that they're all trying. They're just not very good.

Yeah, it's their talent. You do have a way of cutting to the chase, qsilv. I do stand corrected.

QS, where have you been. The whole board has changed (for the worse) without you.

My impression is the same. In fact, one could make a case that some of them are pressing too much or perhaps thinking too much.

337, I think he's still on his American Ballparks honeymoon. He's supposed to be swinging by STL 9/15.

How did this pop up! I hope everyone realizes this was a joke. I am stupid. Not this stupid though.
I do think they are still trying as well. The talent isn't simply there.
Biff,
I forgot I even made this thread. What made you think about it?

I LOVE that billboard on the Church by Comerica that says "Pray for the Tigers AND Lions here" I always laugh. It used to just say Tigers until the Lions moved in.

"May the Yankess team plane crash into the ocean... and may Randy Smith the co-pilot."
Personally, I'd like to see you retract that statement. Better yet, edit the post and eliminate that comment and I'll pretend I never saw it.

You're right... in retrospect definitely a poor choice. My apologies.

Man, this is a weird thread, even weirder than it was in April. Among other things, I can't figure out where in the thread anybody said anything about a Yankee plane crash. I also don't know why it's considered so offensive.

What's the big deal with the plane crashing? It's just a machine.
The Yankees can parachute out and land safely on Madagascar. And never come back.

Well, for one, we have a life-long Yankee fan here that contrbutes here quite nicely and has for years now. Secondly, one of her favorite players died in a plane crash. She thinks so highly of this player that she actually incorportates his uniform number into her e-mail address . That was what made the remark a tad over the line of taste and decorm. Even without knowing that info, it crossed the line.
The person who posted the remarks has done the right thing and apologized. I applaud him for that.

Well, we'll just blame it on Illitch.....
In general I don't find dark humor offensive but I'm sorry if the Thurman Munson fan was offended.
