Most of these guys were there last year and won their division but didn't win in the playoffs. A good bunch of them played there this season as well and were a below-.500 team.

The only advantage the Tigers would have over the Mudhens is that they would've had people like Bonderman, Maroth, Young and Higginson on the team for a full year, well excluding injury time.

Thinking this way, I think the Tigers would've been a very solid International League team because of the additions of the full-time Tigers being with them, but would've they been a clear frontrunner to win the title? Would've they won 100 games? Probably not but I really don't know. That's what is scary about what we had at the Show this year - you can't even look at those players and say they would've been the clear-cut favorites to win the International League title. Have an above .500 record - sure they would've. But anything over .600 that definitely wouldn't have been a given.

I think they would have been a dominant AAA team. Most of their players would have been very good AAA players. Young, Pena, Munson, Monroe and Witt would lead a formiddable Mudhen line-up. Inge and Santiago might not be that good but they'd be average hitters. I believe a good number of their pitchers would have been very strong in AAA. None of this makes me feel better about the team though.

I'm with Tiger337 on this one. I think they would've cleaned up Triple-A.

First of all, put Pena at first and Munson at third. Already you've significantly improved your third base product from last year without a drop at first. Inge tends to do decently at catcher and I can't see Santiago doing worse at SS in AAA than he does in the Majors. Monroe and Higgy would do very well offensively in the outfield... Sanchez would probably improve his numbers as well. And Young would be fantastic I think.

Pitching wise... most of the pitchers we've got have shown that they are decent AAA pitchers at least. With as many K's at Bonderman has in the majors he would excel against Triple-A (where he really should be this year), Maroth and Cornejo would both improve significantly and I have to think that Ledezma and Roney would be major rotation contributors in AAA.

There was a thread on baseballprimer.com discussing this issue. The consensus from a lot of guys smarter than I am, is that the team would have torn through AAA. They adjusted all of our players' stats for triple A, and compared them to league average, and everybody was above average with a few topping out the league.

Monroe was hitting .440 at Toledo in limited time this year. Warren Morris was hitting .340. Inge hit .280.

Dmitri would probably hit .400. They would clean house.

Comparisons to the Sacramento Rivercats, at the time of this thread, the top team in AAA. The stats are adjusted to MLe's.

Keep in mind also that Loux and Robertson were among the top ten this year in Int'l League ERA. If those guys could have such success there, some of the other Tigers' pitchers probably would have been successful, too. I'm with those of you who believe that the Tigers would have won huge as Mud Hens. All this business about the Tigers being a AA team is nonsense.

And, oh yes, Pena batted something like .320-.330 in his short rehab at Toledo this year. Our guys would have won 100+ games easily.
