In any business there are times when you have to give young talent an opportunity. Heck even Boston and NYY weave in youngsters.
Scotty Bowman was a huge advocate of moving a player along a year early rather than a year late. Scotty had some success managing playing and assessing talent.
It's not like Polanco was an all star, I still see that bouncer up the middle and remember thinking the game was over. The unknown is always scary.
